FORT WORTH -- A homeowner shot and killed an intruder early Sunday after hearing someone in his backyard, police said in a news release.
No one else was injured in the shooting that happened shortly before 12:30 a.m. Sunday in the 8100 block of Camelot Road near Willow Creek Park in far south Fort Worth.
The Tarrant County medical examiner’s office identified the victim as Pierre Bullock, 24, of Fort Worth. He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the medical examiner’s office.
Bullock had no previous criminal history in Tarrant County, according to Tarrant County criminal court records.
The 37-year-old homeowner who authorities did not identify told police that he grabbed a gun and went to his backyard when he heard someone there.
The homeowner fired five times and went back inside of his home to protect his children, according to police reports.
Bullock made it to the front yard where he collapsed, police said.
Patrol officers responded to a call of a shooting on Camelot Road and found Bullock’s body in the front yard.
The homeowner could not be reached Sunday.
Police continued to investigate the shooting Sunday afternoon.
