Am I reading that correctly? They charge $45 to do a transfer when you buy from them???? Not in my lifetime.

I think they are saying that if you order through one of their affiliated web sites, there is no transfer fee, if you pick it up within 7 days.. It sounds to me like their standard transfer fee is $45 for other web site online purchases I don't see $85 anywhere except on the home page, where it says free FFL transfer with $85 in-store purchase.

    Quote from the page:
"Most other Gun Shops charge a "sneaky" firearm transfer fee of $45 or more, per gun, to pickup in store, when ordering from their website. Order your next firearm(s) and/or accessories with Fountain Firearms GEARFIRE/NFDN website, pickup that ordered at Fountain Firearms, within 7 days, after it arrives, and avoid a $45 Transfer Fee."

Is this the same Fountain Firearms that has moved once or twice and was originally located downtown, just a couple of blocks from the bus station?

That $85 you gave bought you $85 of merchandise in the store (ammo, magazines, etc.). Sounds like you were so surprised that you forgot to grab your stuff.

I see them at least annually to re-up on balistol.

Fountain Firearms is well within my driving distance for gun shops. It's also now off my list of shops to step foot in. I don't patronize businesses who pull this kind of crap Even through I far prefer buying in-store than online and theoretically wouldn't fall prey, this speaks to the mindset of the business owner and life has taught me better. There's a really high chance of other 'gotchas' when dealing with people like this, and I don't like those types of surprises.

Love it... Every time raising transfer prices get me thinking of getting an FFL again, a new place doing them for $15 pops up.
