    Hard to believe he's the last one. I remember meeting guys who had been in the Great War, including one that had been gassed (and spent the rest of his life suffering the effects). RIP, Cpl. Buckles.

    Rest in peace and Thank You for your Service in the Great War.

    Those brave men had no charley rations nor MREs and often went pretty hungry over there. Field kitchens were sometimes few and far between and when set up sometimes all they had to cook was a mule.

    Not only did he serve in "The Great War", he also was a POW of the Japanese for about three long years in WWII!:
    "He traveled widely over the years, working for steamship companies, and he was on business in Manila when the Japanese occupied it after the attack on Pearl Harbor in December 1941. He was imprisoned by the Japanese and lost more than 50 pounds before being liberated by an American airborne unit in February 1945"

    Men like these, are the TRUE heroes! Spoiled actors and drugged up rock stars don't even rate to wipe his ass!
