    "......because for less than the cost of a night out in most of our cities, a handgun can be purchased."

    Where? And I'll take 10!!!!!!

    I guess "the cost of a night out" is a relative term, huh?

    +++++++++++
    Over 11,000 people were murdered with guns in the last year for which statistics are available. (11,346 to be exact. source: USDOJ)

    They forgot to mention also that in the same year, 42,636 people died in car crashes in the U.S.. ( source:NHTSA)

    Perhaps we should also have a have a serious talk about the PRIVILEGE of driving versus the RIGHT to keep and bear arms???

    If I could wish for one oppressive law today it would be this:

    (1) Every time someone throws out stats for "gun murders" by individuals they must immediately follow it by stats on the tens of millions of people murdered by oppressive governments who disallow ownership of arms by their civilians.

    By the same statistical logic they use: we should ban seat belts due to the scores of people who die each year in car crashes because they couldn't get out of the car afterwards and drown/burnt/etc. Especially babies stuck in car seats (oh, the children).

    These people are intellectually bankrupt.
