On 8Apr21, Rep Jamie Haskin introduced a bill to the House that would increase the cost of NFA stamp 50% from $200 to $300. Coincidence that just as the Biden bunch wants to turn braced pistols to SBRs, a bill is introduced to raise the tax stamp? I think not.

If they were concerned about the sheeple they govern, wouldn't they make suppressors available for all WITHOUT a tax stamp?

Nobody becomes a politician out of concern for the people they represent. They use that as a reason to get support, funding or votes, but a person goes into politics for power, or money.

Who is surprised by any of this?? Democrats control Congress and somebody controls Biden/Harris as they sit in the White House.

    It's like this:
    1. The Democratic Party has been taken over by socialists/communists. It bears no resemblance to the party of JFK.
    2. The Republican Party - at least with respect to Congress - isn't a whole lot better (with a few notable exceptions).
    3. Private ownership of firearms is not compatible with socialism or communism. The potential ability to stand against the will of the State is not tolerated. Ever.
    4. The President has dementia and can barely speak a full sentence. His handlers won't let him make evening appearances because he "sundowns" (gets worse). You may think he's running the show, but that's simply not possible.
    5. His VP is not even slightly qualified to have that position, but is perfectly willing to do anything (and historically that meant ANYTHING) to be there. Someone is pulling their strings, and whatever individual or (more likely) group that is doing so is the biggest threat to democracy that has ever occurred in this country.
    6. In order to gain favor with the idiots produced by our public school system, the federal government is giving away "free stuff" at an embarrassing rate. There isn't enough revenue to cover that, so they have to borrow a lot of money.
    7. China is the biggest loan holder for the American government. Gee, what could go wrong with that. Being deeply in debt to a country that admits to being our enemy, that expects to take over Taiwan shortly, that has eyes or more territory - maybe the Philippines.
    8. The federal government is becoming desperate for cash. Taxes are going up. Fees are going up. Anything they can get their hands on they will be taking.
    9. The ATF has always been a mess, even during the Reagan and Trump years. They are only going to get worse with the appointments made by Biden/Harris.
    10. You ain't seen nothin' yet.

I’ve read other gun grabbing politicians who want to increase the price of a stamp in-line with the inflation that’s occurred since the NFA was enacted.

So it would be like a $10,000 stamp (or some crazy amount like that)

It's time to actually get rid of the NFA

I agree, and I'm sure there are many others that would agree as well.

It does strike me as to why Trump didn't dismantle the ATF during his administration. Questions. Who can dismantle or eliminate a federal agency? Is Congress required? Can a sitting president order the elimination of a federal agency?

$200 in 1934, taking inflation in to account, is roughly equal to $3925 today. But even the current $200 is prohibitive to some folks. Now they want to raise it and include annual increases in lock step with inflation.

I worry less about this than most people. If we ever needed to really play hardball with China, all we'd have to do is stop protecting the sea lanes from the middle east to China. Oil tankers would become prime targets for piracy. No one would insure those ships any more. The flow of oil to China would be so choked off they'd be on their knees begging us for mercy.

Problem is the Biden's are so far into bed with the Chinese, there isn't any way they would play hardball with China.

The $200 was intended to be an impediment to poor people owning guns. In 1934, it was. It is annoying today. Either way, it is wrong.
