I believe a lot of the lost love is the fact that Californians will way over pay for a house or land pricing us natives out of ever owning our own. Not just that but based on yalls garbage ass over paying, the house values have skyrocketed causing a huge tax increase. Houses have literally doubled if not trippled because some idiot from California will buy it. Just stay and clean up your own mess. Even the "good" ones bring these issues.

You'll never be welcomed, just tolerated
Bought a small house on a couple acres and paid tens of thousands under market because of repairs being needed. And California has been f-ed since the seventies. California being crap is as much my fault as Pearl Harbor was. I wasn't born yet.

I was raised in a conservative Christian household. I've voted against California every year since my adulthood. That place went bad YEARS before I was conceived. It's not my mess to clean up. Can't help where I was born.

Makes me wonder how folks view CRT.

I'm sure you're a nice dude and the exception to the rule, but the issues I brought up are real, and 95% of your fellow Californians ruin it for everyone. By no means feel no obligation to answer, but out of curiosity, how much did you pay for your place? What you described would be under 100k 5 years ago in a lot of places. Under market value doesn't mean much it it's currently inflated 3x it's true value.

One way you will assimilate faster is to not get easily butt hurt over folks giving you shit for being from California.

People give Texans shit about Texas all the time but we deal with it without a bunch of pantywringing and whining about how mean the okies are being to us.

Just sayin’ the incessant whining that a lot folks do from left coast does not go over well here.

No worries. It's a 3bed 2bath, almost 2300sf on a couple acres with a small 2 car garage, just inside city limits. Block house. A hair over 200.

And if I thought Californians didn't ruin things, I'd still be living with them...so fair point, I guess.

I couldn't care less if someone judges me after they meet me. Someone calls be a lib without knowing me pisses me off no matter where they're from.

I don't know. Maybe I just have a temper or something.

That is just some of the California seeping out. We are used to it at this point, y’all tend to be a little more sensitive than native born Americans.
Comes from living in a cage since birth. You’ll eventually adjust.

I’d rather watch two mules fight over a turnip, but since you went there, you didn’t leave at your first chance.

Now, I’m going to try to be polite when I say this. As long as you look back at where you came from and use that to describe who you are, it’s going to rub some real good folks the wrong way. We’ve heard the same song and dance since Bush was president. Forty-one, not Forty-three. It’s old. It might be good for you but it’s not been good for us. No, we’re not grateful and we damn for sure don’t want to hear about whatever hellhole you chose to life your adult life in until you decided to come here.

We’d rather y’all be humble and understand that no matter how good you might be in your own eyes, chances are somebody else from where you came from has had a negative impact on our community.

I quote Thomas Friedman often when I say immigration without assimilation is invasion.

I can respect that, but you don't know the reason I stayed. I'd be more than happy to tell you why in private message if you care enough to hear it, but I won't be bringing it up in public. Don't think I wouldn't have left earlier than this. I would have been out at 18. Some things are more important than that. I'll gladly die for the reason I stayed as long as I did. Doesn't mean I wanted to live there.

I'm not a good person. I'm just not a lib. I have no problem with assimilation. I have a problem with internet people.

Happy to say, though, that I've been here less than a month and made quite a few good friends in the real world. Fishing, shooting, driving mopar. There are some genuinely cool people out here.

Good for you. This place has a strong F2F component to it. We have a reunion in April and October, hope to see you there.

There a link for time and place in Oct? Be happy to be there. I'll be gone the first week on a lobster fishing trip, but if it's after, I'll make time.

In the hometown forum, there’s a reunion sub. Usually 2nd Saturday in October. Last few years have been at Texas Star Shooting Range in Kempner.

Can't speak for others but I have no love for socialists, and I think most Texans I've talked to like unions more than anyone in my family.

A lot of Californians are trash. No argument. I'd just like it if folks would meet me before saying stuff like I should be thrown out of a helicopter.
We'll discuss it once your feet are on ground.
