    But you could start a car pretty easily without either...

    In high school mom had a 75 Mercury Cougar and a friend had a Gran Torino. Being kids, I found out the Cougar door key could lock/unlock the Gran Torino. Ignition keys were different but I had a field day playing tricks on this guy. Taking things out of his car and putting trash inside for months before he found out.
