Just remembered I know a guy with land in the population triangle and I know he shoots there. Because I'm certain he'll ask and before I approach him with the idea, what does it take to secure event insurance, particularly liability? Perhaps more to the point, can we actually buy it?

You’re looking for special event liability insurance.

Not every insurer will cover sporting events (which shooting is a sub-category of). Here’s one that does:

Would probably take a 501c3 to form in order to help shield the TGT site owners from liability, but this is where a legal opinion would be helpful.

I imagine your landowner would day-lease the land to Us for $1 and make it contingent on liability insurance provided by the organizers.

    :(

    Ineligible Event Types
Shooting Ranges – Non-NRA Approved Facilities

Maybe that doesn't apply to us.

I drive almost two hours each way for work on the daily. Had I not been out of town to visit my brother and wife and to meet my new nephew I would've definitely been at the meet.

Yup. Have driven from Killeen to Pearland so the wife can have her favorite BBQ.
Or to S. Houston for tacos. I bring 30-40 of them back with me too and binge for a few days.

But since I am a nice guy.....
Taqueria Tipatitlan, Chimney Rock and 59S. There are others around tough. I used to eat at the one on Spencer or the one I think around Parker and 59N??? Somewhere around there. Hope you can order in spanish. Especially the one on 59S. After 45 minutes, a customer finally came in that understood enough english to help them order.

For BBQ, Central Texas Style BBQ in Pearland on Broadway right off Telephone Rd.
The wife loves the BBQ baked potato. They are huge. Enough for 2 meals and loaded.
