I have a friend who is visually impaired and she has just published her first youtube video on cooking, she is making oatmeal cookies.

I will first give you some background, she is a naturalized American citizen, she came here from Monterey Mexico, legally, learned American English, and graduated from the University of Houston. Prior to that, she had a degree in communications from her home state/country. She is the sweetest person, her only flaw is that she votes democrat, even though she would not admit it she leans more conservative. She is a member of the Texas BET program (Blind Entrepreneurs of Texas) and was at one time asked to sit as Rick Perry's advisor for persons with disabilities, she turned it down due to complications (medical related to congenital glaucoma) at the time.

Would you folks please watch her video and send some likes and subscribes her way. Her husband is the videographer.

She works very hard, her cafeteria/c-store in the Brown Heatly Building (4900 North Lamar) in Austin suffered greatly from the closing mandated during COVID. Even though nearly totally blind, when one of her cooks decided to quit without notice (prior to COVID) she was in the cafeteria kitchen doing the cooking for hundreds of her customers until she found a replacement. She is a go-getter and a very strong person who has suffered much through life.

Why not? I guess I was trying to show that even though we disagree politically she is still a very good friend, I do not abandon friends. I have seen some people post about letting family and friends "go away from their lives" because of political differences. Even though she and I do not agree on some things we remain, steadfast friends, and have each other's back. Our similarities are greater than our differences.

I have enough family that vote traitorous, but they are blood. I don’t support others that are trying to destroy this country. I don’t even support family. You’re the one that introduced how wonderful your friend is except….

Whenever I see someone post about no longer speaking to family and friends over something as silly as politics it saddens me. When I die I am the last of my line, my family dies. I try not to dwell upon it but sometimes I do think about it. I will be alone, no children, no grandchildren, just alone into the void.

This is why I try to spend so much time with a younger cousin (mother's side not fathers) and his children, at least I can spoil his kids, who are being raised to hunt, fish, and be conservatives and look out for their brothers and sisters, and they adore me.

Today we were at his small place (120 acres) and we set up a new deer feeder, cleared some undergrowth and tomorrow will build a fence around the feeder to keep the cattle out. Play some corn hole and maybe even have time to shoot a bit.

OP, you must not have read the rules here. Maintaining relationships with people who don't agree 100% with you is not allowed. That is the beginning of the slippery slope toward emotional maturity.
