Broken ribs in an 85 year old lady have, obviously, and higher 1 year mortality than for the young. Meaning she'll probably get out of the hospital but there is a fair chance she just got pushed down a one year spiral to the end.

It's the human condition. I hope she makes her peace before it is too late.

A few years back, an 89 year old buddy broke his wrist.

6 months later he died in a convalescent home.

Another mutual friend had spoken to him on the phone the morning of the day he died and he (the 89 yearl old) reported feeling fine and then, bam, that afternoon he was gone.

Old people don't fare well with broken bones.....

^ I hope this post doesn't get you a Secret Service black helicopter hovering outside your kitchen window.

From my own observations about old people and broken bones, it usually marks the beginning of the end.

Justice Ginsburg fell and broke three of her ribs.

Some people just don't know when to quit.

Lucky for our country she didn't retire at 80.

My daughter is crying and asking me “is Trump is going to use his executive power as laid out in the constitution to replace Ruth Bader Ginsberg, a champion of women’s rights, with a far-right justice who will keep the court conservative for the next few decades?”

She’s two years old and I have no idea what to say to her.

Hold her and say, "I certainly hope so, sweetie."
