    Robert K,

    Wow, it's a beauty.

    I too am a G19 fan.

Would you take the time to educate us on the benefits of your customizing?

I haven't a clue as to what an extended slide release does or the other customizing items either.

The changes I made to mine are an extended magazine and slide button (Is the extended slide button the same as a release) a 3.5lb connector, tru glo sights and a Hogue Handall grip.

Found a Vickers/Tango Down kit on EBay for a good price, $44.95 shipped. Kit consisted of; five magazine floor plate, an extended magazine release button, and an extended slide release. Since I already own the slide release I'll be putting that up for sale to make some money back.

I'll try to get some more up.

Sure. The connector [FONT=Verdana, Helvetica Neue, Helvetica, sans-serif]shortens the total length of the Glock trigger pull and reset. It also reduces the trigger pull weight. I like a light pull on my firearms with a noticeable and short reset. This allows me to shoot faster. The springs reduce the amount needed to move also. So instead of IE 4-5 lbs to move the striker it takes 2 lbs. Again allows one to shoot faster. Sounds like you are confusing terminology on the slide release/catch. An extended slide release/catch is just that. It's larger than factory which is easier to locate under stressful situations. This is the same with the extended magazine button. I have short thumbs so even the large Gen4 mag release button has me break my grip.

I'm trying to decide on sights. Want a fiber optic/night sight combo. However I'm not sure on the color or color combo I want. I had a Hogue grip on my Gen3 G23 but heard rumors of it becoming loose so I removed it. Not sure if I'll go with a Talon Grip or just wait till I send this one out for stippling. Still researching the numerous companies that do stippling. I did my own on my G36 and it works but no where near the professional level that is out there. This is the same for a threaded barrel and suppressor. A lot of research and extra shifts for money lays ahead of me.

Well my dumbass didn't read the fine print on the Vickers gear. It's meant for .45acp/10mm Gen4 Glocks. So thats up for sale. Re-ordered the correct plates and mag release from EBay, $36.90.

Received the proper Vickers mag release and base plates. Install was easy and any DIYer with Glock knowledge can complete it. After installing the mag release I found I was stretching my thumb even to push the larger button. So I removed the large backstop and will see how I shoot without any. Pics are below.

Vickers Wilson Combat Sights installed. Went with a green fiber optic front and the standard flat black rear. Rear sight was a PITA without a rear sight tool! Minor scratching but hey! It's a tool meant to be used. Maybe it will get cerakoted later in its life.

You know I love my Glocks and the ones y'all picked up are great but you know what bothers me is all the modifications we have to do to get it the way we want it. I know its part of the fun but dam it takes a lot of mods.

No, it doesn't. Glocks shoot fine out of the box.

Past that, they're fine-tuned for individual preference. Sights, trigger pull, etc. Just like any other gun out there.

But modifying it to they way "I" want is why I love Glocks. It's the AR of pistols. In basic form the AR-15 and Glock works just fine. A $500 AR will more than likely function just as good as a $2500 AR. No different with Glock vs Nighthawk. But its the benefit of buying a $500 Glock and spec-ing it to your needs and wants.

Little free DIY I did. Polished the slide rails, trigger bar and safety plunger. Figured I give it a try before dropping the money on a new trigger. I didn't sand anything and only used the polish that came with my Dremel I bought over a year ago. Going to pick up some Mother's and new polishing wheels and give it another go.

I love my glock in stock form. It came with night sights, and I only changed the slide stop to a Vickers because I got bored (I prefer stock, surprisingly, but am keeping the Vickers on anyway).

Reading this thread makes me want to get another glock and modify it. I miss my FDE frame 19 now lol. Nice gun, OP!

Thanks gents! In stock Glock form it's a very capable and reliable firearm. However I feel at a minimum the factory (non-night) sight need to be replaced. Otherwise for $400-$600 depending on model you honestly can't beat it. Plus as I've said before they are the AR of pistols. You can build/modify them to your needs & wants. And pretty inexpensively too.
