This is what we're looking at. The bullshit below is one of the multitude of reasons we GTFO of what was once "home"

They're in for a "fun" week, including a good shot at a White Christmas. Queen Covid Kate's dictatorial edicts forced 150 DOT workers to leave back there, a lot of them were the operators of sanding trucks, plows, and de-icer rigs. Oregon already had a low number of rigs when shit wasn't retarded. Its going to be a complete cluster. Don't be at all surprised if videos go viral of busses sliding off hillsides, 20+ car pileups, busses going off overpasses... it doesn't snow a lot in that area. Drivers there mostly can't handle wet pavement, let alone actual ice / snow conditions. The forecast there is similar to what happened in 2008 during Christmas week - we had a see-saw effect of slight thaw & refreeze that saw ice building up of 6-8 inches on the surface streets and highways around the Portland metro area. I was a tow truck operator back then. It was good money, but it was also dangerous as all hell.

Seriously praying for my handful of loved ones still there under Brownstain's rule. Her policies are going to make this winter far worse for them than in years past.

    Gunz are icky.
Yesterday I had to call in to a customer service number. The woman speaking with me was somewhere around Detroit.
    I asked her, You cold?
She said the weather was miserable cold and snowy. Generally yucky.
I replied that I’m running around in shorts and flip flops. She mad. LMAO.
Then she told me many people she knew were all moving to or already were in Texas!
She was nice so I invited her too. She said her husband and her were definitely considering it.
    LoL

Meh, just throw some decorative gravel down and build out a big outdoor kitchen! Maybe hang a 72" TV on the fence for in-the-pool movie night.

Wife has a whole design she worked out with them. It will look good, we just kept getting delayed past the planting season. Will be doing it early next spring.

Outdoor kitchen wasn't in the budget and I already have a grill, smoker & Blackstone so I'm not exactly wanting for cooking equipment.

We do have a projector and will be getting an inflatable screen for outdoor pool parties.

Well...also the fact that it’s Hillsboro. I’d rather lick my own shit than live up there.

Rare years, and it doesn't stick around for a week+ at a time though. Snows there every year, typically 1-3 inches at a time. About every 10 years or so, it stacks up and is measured in feet.

 Ouch! Was born in Yamhill County (McMinnville) but raised from 3 years old just south of Hillsboro. Washington county is (was) a nice place to live. Sure as hell beat MultCo, but the Californians and huge swell of east and south Asian immigrants (almost all brought here by Intel) have shifted the county to a blue shade of purple.

When I was a kid, Hillsboro's population was under 10,000. Now its well over 10X that.

We lived in Forest Grove for a few years, its the nicest city to live in inside Washington County, with Banks being a close 2nd. I wouldn't live in Hillsboro again but only mainly because its too damn expensive. Property costs, energy costs (FG is the only city in the county to have its own utility district, we paid 2/3 what the other areas paid for electricity, gas, water/sewer) and city services (Hillsboro is the only place code enforcement ever hassled me for having a truck in the driveway) make Forest Grove the place to be. But probably not for long. Right before we moved here, some developer bought a big tract of land and slapped up a big new apartment complex, with plans to do the same a couple blocks away.
