    Little Matt's
In the old Matthew's Motors building.

Texas raised beef, cooked medium well, or to your spec.
Any double meat burger is simply too damn big to pickup.
Lots of noisy kids, but worth it ...

Real hard to beat Bellaire Broiler Burger in the area. Last time I tried something new I was really pissed off with Bernie's Burger Bus. Only saving grace was a buddy bought that over priced yuppie burger

Liked the old Palace Bowling lanes, on Bellaire Blvd, for a 1950's style greasy, but great tasting, burger.
Haven't looked lately, but I think it's gone the way of the Shamrock.

The one and only time I purposely went to Austin for something I stopped at a burger bar place and it was actually pretty good but with all the weird yuppy type skinny Jean people walking around I had to get the hell out.

I haven't noticed if the bowling alley is gone, but then again I haven't looked. I would liked to scored ten feet of a lane to make loading/work bench tops out of.

Those overpriced burger that were down the street didn't last to long. I remember going int that place when it opened because we had 50% off coupon. When the guy asked how was it, I told him even @ 1/2 price I like broiler burger better. I asked if he had to pay for his uniform because he would look stupid standing in line @ unemployment wearing it!

Twisted Root is pretty good. Blue Sky in Abilene is similar but without the bar. Centerpoint Station in San Marcos was pretty good the couple times we've been there.

I think In-n-Out is way too hyped and I wasn't impressed with Five Guys.

When at the lake house, have made the 100+ mile trip down I-30W on a Sunday to Texarkana just to hit one of the few Whataburger's in Arkansas.

Barely outside the AR/TX state line, on the AR side.
Sometime's ya just gotta get a real Texas fix, all the way around.
Just the name makes it good ...

    Twisted Root is good.

The best Burger Town in Texas is Fort Worth

    Kincaid’s, Fred’s, Charlie’s, Rodeo Goat

Haven't tried Rodeo Goat yet but the other two are OK. In n Out blows. Whataburger still beft for fast food. Red Robin decent for a sit down. Al's in Arlington is a favorite of ours

Here’s the deal; I jokingly threw out Whataburger, knowing the OP was looking for something different.

That place from CA isn’t it.

I’ll make a haul for barbecue, but not a burger. That shit is just to easy to get right at home.

My rules are if I’m driving you somewhere for you to do something, then I’m picking the eats.

I can guarantee it’ll be unground red meat and alcohol.
