Okay so for my retirement (12-31-09) some folks who work for me got me a $300.00 Gift Certificate at the local gun store. Here's the deal......I have a couple of hundred (MAX) that I could add but really need to stay as close to 300-400 as possible. I have plenty of shotguns, rifles, and semi-auto pistols from Glocks to Kimbers. I DO NOT OWN A SINGLE REVOLVER! With that said I was looking at the Ruger LCR as a possible purchase for a nice reliable wheel gun that I could leave by the wife's recliner or throw in the truck as a spare carry. (Have CHL and Kimber Ultra CHP is always on my side.) Other thought is way out there..........Taurus Judge Public Defender. I don't care that it's only chambered for 2.5 shells........BG still won't like the results if he takes a hit from it. Any thoughts???

I'd look for a single action 45LC personally or a S&W 357 mag like my dad carried as a Sheriffs Deputy. I like his 357 mag Ruger blackhawk to. Good luck and have fun with whatever you buy.

LCR is a nice little revolver. I shot a friend's and it preformed well. That said, I recently bought a SW 642 and couldn't be happier with it. Don't think you'd go wrong with either. As for the Taurus... meh.

:headscratch: You got me thinking now.......the LCR is a little less expensive but I am a sucker for Stainless guns.........the 642 is and the LCR isn't. I'll let you know what I decide.

Actually the 642 is aluminum frame, which accounts for the 15 oz unloaded weight. But it does have a stainless "look" and it's rated for +P. One of the reasons I jumped on this one is that it is the old style no lock version.

I've been looking a Ruger GP 161, but I don't think that is in the catagory of carry. I was thinking more of a deer slayer/25-40 yard target practise with a cheap pistol scope, epecially since they have some rails that don't need to be drilled by a gunsmith.
