    Ahhhhhh, the USPS.

"Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds."
    BUT
"If we have to lean too far out of the truck or take a step towards the mailbox you're royally phucked!"

Kiss that prescription or seriously needed item good by into a black hole for a couple days.

The USPS is learning the hard way people are done putting up with their shit. Amazon, for instance, had it with having to refund shipping and issuing credits for prime customers due to the USPS' ineptitude. So what did they do? They started their own logistics arm, and now deliver their own packages in many areas. Most of my Amazon packages now deliver via AMZ, and they are always on time. I can even track the delivery driver as he gets close (UPS has partial coverage for this too).

I get most of my packages from them via AMZ also. I like that they take a photo of the package on the porch. I had stopped ordering from Amazon on Fridays because the post office would always screw up the Sunday deliveries.
Now if it goes to the wrong address, I might be able to identify which neighbor's porch it was put on. But so far AMZ has got it right.

We leave things in the Amazon cart until Friday, so that it will be delivered on Sunday. That’s our only good mail delivery day.

    1. Bums/drug addicts/crazies allowed to camp out on side walks in cities with their accompanying human waste, used syringes, spreading disease while their violence is being ignored.

    2. Illegal alien invasion.

    3. Accommodating antifa's violence as in the cops don't stop these thugs from assaulting those they disagree with. The cops would stop it if allowed to, but the left has them in their grip.....

There's plenty more, but you get the picture.

All of this horror is perpetrated by the marxist's in power, i.e. the left......

Regarding Amazon delivery, I've seen it suggested, and I suggest myself, those AMZ delivery guys need to uniform up. I've had more than one guy who doesn't fit the typical customer here make me pay attention when he walks in. Call it statistics and not stereotypes, but the shorts around the knees and the scanning the room when you walk in wearing a hat with stickers on it matches the turds came here a few years ago that didn't break in to our store, but did break into Carter's Country 3 months later. The only thing that said Amazon was the package he had. They need to wear a vest, have a dress code, wear a AMZ hat or something. USPS isn't much better, granted. And, recently, FedEx has been AWFUL! 7 days to ship a handgun from here to Louisiana?? Took 2 days to make it from the Walgreens drop in Cypress to the sorting facility in Cypress! Hmm. Another package (a $3000 thermal scope) was sent from our distributor in Louisiana to us. Normally 1 day. High value item. Went all the way to Kentucky and then back here. 5 day trip.

But my dealings with the government recently...

I talked at length with the new director of the NFA branch and asked (politely) WTF is taking so long? I thought you had new tech. Barcode scanners. Boilerplate single person trusts. We do about 250 silencers per year so we're a pretty good proxy of wait times. I called the branch and they said it's taking 9 months. I said "bullshit". She said "well that's what we're told to say. I don't have anyone I can put you in touch with that has any other answers." So when I did talk/email with the director, he said "we have 300,000 applications...we get the checks in Oregon and then they mail the apps to WV...we have them in the system in 2 weeks which I think is really good and our people should be commended." He indicated the FBI is the hold up. They have no control over how long the background checks take. So then I pointed out to him:

eForm 1 vs paper form 4
    both use trusts
    both have fingerprints
    both have $200 tax stamps
    both have responsible persons.
    both required background checks.
both deal with the NFA registry.

They're basically the same thing. Now, if the payment and data entry are done instantly, but they only take 2 weeks to put in the data and cash the check, then why is the eform1 taking 35 days to clear and the paper form4 is taking 12 months?

The background check can't possibly take more than 35 days.
Changing the name on the NFA registry is a 2 day task (when we do a form 3, it's approved in an average of 2 days...just changing the name from one FFL to another).

    WTF is the hold up?

That's when he stopped responding to my emails. Checkmate. Silence.

BTW, the FBI processes 2mm+ NICS checks per month right now. 300k applications could be done in a weekend.

I even offered, twice, to fly to WV on my own dime and give them a free week of labor to help process forms and maybe help discover or develop a system that would be more efficient. He didn't take me up on the offer.

I genuinely think there is some culture in the NFA branch that is intentionally delaying. There is no plausible explanation otherwise.

He said they have 20+ agents and several civilian contractors working. But with 300,000 applications, what exactly are they doing in the branch? Data entry (which is done in 2 weeks) is largely done. Waiting on the FBI for 12 months? I doubt it. The only other thing left is to change the name in the NFA registry. That's only 1500 applications per year per agent. The work is easy. They have all the data in within just 2 weeks. 350 days to do what then?

I also suggested that if they get an approval, then they should take 30 seconds to search for all the other applications that person has in the stack. It's the same person getting checked. Most of my customers have multiple items in at one time. Some have as many as 8 things pending at once. And almost everybody uses a Single Shot Trust. If you pulled all the applications they have, you'd reduce your work load (and the FBIs repeated checks on the same person) by probably 75%.

So, again, something stinks in WV.

Those agents get paid the same if they process 20 applications a day or 2 applications a day. They have no sense of urgency. Hell, if they got all the applications done they might have to do real work.

I’ve been in a agrgument with the VA for two years after they said that the two bones I broke on a parachute Jump at Ranger school were not a service connected injury.

In contact with or can find anyone you served with who is familiar with the incident and can write you a "Buddy Letter/Statement"?

Google the term ... can help when medical records are missing or inaccurate.

Doesn't that depend on their union contract? I haven't read it.

Since the work sounds to me like it's essentially clerical in nature, I'd hypothesize that their workloads and productivity levels were negotiated with their union a long, long time ago. Their productivity levels are probably set way too low. I know when I first worked for the federal government, it was in a clerical position and, according to the union-negotiated acceptable production rates, I was doing 10 hours work in the first 90 minutes of each day. I spent the rest of the day doing stuff that wasn't my job and didn't show up on my evaluations but was helpful to the organization thus making management love me.

My evaluations showed my productivity and accuracy exceeded par by 25%, minimum, at all times so I got perfect evaluations. I could have gotten over that bar just working 2 hours a day, including lunch.

If their union contract, as locally modified to cover production quotas in their unit, specifies a certain number of pieces of paper get processed daily, that's all that will be processed even if that number is terribly outdated and wholly inadequate.

That's would be the VBA, not the health care arm. That's a whole nuther can of worms. I hope you have a copy of your service medical record.

I have had pretty good care by the Central Texas VA.....cant really complain. After a simple request.....got a change of Dr. to one who actually gives a shit. Have received a couple of free surgeries (carpal tunnel) and outside referrals to the necessary specialists. Will be doing hip replacement soon. Only complaint I have is lack of dental care.........oh......they will pull 'em alright. Just won't do restorative work unless 100% service connected disability.
