Looking for some advice on what to get. I had an issue a while back with a bobcat and the dog getting into a fight in the middle of the night and as I went to grab a rifle, I told the wife to grab a flashlight. I've got some pretty nice flashlights, and keep one by the back door for just such a situation, but she for some reason decided to grab a 30 year old craftsman flashlight with old batteries that could only illuminate about 10'.
I borrowed a laser scope from a buddy. It could adjust from a pencil beam laser to a wide beam flash light, green in color so animals can't see it when it's on the flood pattern. The one I borrowed was huge. I've talked to others who have smaller ones, but their issue seems to be battery drain.
So who can suggest a, not too expensive, green laser/flashlight that I could clamp onto a scope since I don't have any of those evil looking assault weapons with rails on them? Or perhaps I should look into an offset scope ring and just use iron sights with the beam set to wide flood? I'm realizing my eyes don't work as well as they used to and am open for advice with all these new toys available today.
I'm looking to put it on a 22 for shots less than 50 yards for things like bobcats, skunks, opossum, etc. Can anyone recommend a fairly small one that will go out to 50 yards and not drain the batteries if left in but not on?
