It's tentative at this point. There is also a rumor that Ron Perelman, majority stakeholder of AM General (creator of the H1...and H2 as a concept) is in the running.

I think that's been out there hanging in the wind for a while. The Chinese are likely going to be buying a good portion of auto makers on the block.

What I haven't heard mentioned yet is whether the Chinese firm (or AM General for that matter) will keep the production jobs in North America, or whether they'll move production back home.

I'm still less than excited about the news, but then I was never in the market to buy a Hummer anyway.

Don't forget the knuckleheads around Fort Hood who drive them around just as waxed and armor-all-ed as all get out. Either you're a Ranger-SF-Blackhawk wannabe who can't get enough of yourself, or you're a Fobbit who never got to drive anything bigger than a Gator and a laptop when (if?) you deployed. I spent a year escorting convoys in an M1114 and have no desire to drive or own a civilian model.

The consumer Hummer line has it's place. There are ton's of them all over where I live and while the H2 can look good, personally, for me they are of little use. My Excursion is actually usable. Several friends have them and most love them but for the most part they're just the commuter vehicle although a few get to tow the little boats to the lake. (Surly aren't good tow vehicles for much more than 4k-5k lbs)

I'd like to see it bought by a US buyer and kept as consumer friendly boutique brand. Since this sale to the Chinese will actually save jobs and dealers, maybe they're planning on doing just that.
