Looking on Austin rifle club website you will see

(Requirements: Attend a Range Orientation class followed by a Range Shooting Evaluation with a passing grade. Have a recent DPS background check or a current Concealed Handgun License. )

I can see orientation and shooting evaluation, the rang is around some farms and homes, I live near the range.

Is this for most of the gun clubs?

I would not let work do background check for an Austin P.D. install job.

Call them and ask if a recent receipt for a gun will work. It shows you passed the federal NICS check to get it.

ARC is in a relatively hostile area of Texas in regards to guns, so they have to cross all of their Ts and dot all the Is.
