    You want an actual safe or an RSC. Everything you see at the locations you mentioned, plus Cannon and Liberty ‘safes’ are RSCs.

    If you are mechanically inclined, a flammable liquids / hazmat cabinet has a great fire rating. Pin the hinge and put a couple dead bolt locks on it and it is as good as any of the cheap gun safes. Not pretty, but cheap, and would look good in the shop or garage.
