My gun room is in my basement. When I went to buy a gun safe, it took three of us to get it down the stairs and into my man cave. However, I stopped right there and went to Home Depot and scrounged a good wooden pallet. When I got home, we positioned the pallett, and then we set the safe on it. That way, should a pipe leak or burst, my guns my ammo and my valuable papers won't get damaged. Some boxes of ammo are on the floor of the safe. Ran out of room, lol. And, ain't no way that gun safe is EVER leaving the basement.:banghead:

    That's a local problem - Texans don't have basements.

Sure we do. We just use them as septic tanks.

Not having the safe bolted to the floor might make it easier for thieves to break into it.

Be easier to cut it open with the right tools, then drag it up stairs.

That safe might come out of that basement easier than you think.

Easily tip it on its side and use its own weight to pry it open.

Not placing the safe on the floor is a bad idea in my opinion.
