"It is better to gun-proof your kids than kid-proof your guns."

My 12 year old son can shoot my guns any time he wants. He is almost totally uninterested in them; which is pretty unusual for a boy his age. Compare that to my childhood where guns were a forbidden fruit; I'd often take them when my parents weren't home and shoot hairspray bottles.

I think my method works better.

Give me a break, folks......if they can't "afford" a safe, how expensive is a trigger lock? Oh, wait - they GIVE you those with the gun.

A lot of PDs give them away for free as well; they get them from political charities. Elmendorf PD lets me take as many as I want; I once grabbed two handfuls and they didn't care. They make good motorcyle locks.

I think this is a great idea for foster parents. They have to lock their guns up and then lock the ammo up separately. We need more foster parents. Getting a second safe for foster parents could be a great community service.
