Not to get on a soap box or anything, ok maybe intentionally but....

Is anyone else getting annoyed at the price raping that dealers are doing with guns now?? I am getting tired of this. They are buying the guns at the same price they have been but selling them anywhere from 20-100% higher! Case in point: There was a Camp Perry M1A at the show today and they wanted $4000 for it!!! MSRP is $2100 and I have seen 6-8 of them selling for what they SHOULD sell for on gunbroker in the $1700-2000 range. A plain, no options DPMS LR308 that MSRP's for $1000-1100 is marked at $1800-2000 now.

I fully understand the whole supply and demand deal but this is BS! I have been hunting for a NM M1A and a LR-308B but they are simply not to be found at a reasonable price (if at all).

Here is me, waiting for this frenzy to end so I can just buy the gun I want to at the price it is supposed to sell at.

Same here. I went into a gun store in Garland last week and they had a Romanian WASR10 ak47 for 799.99! Had a folding stock for 899.99! Supply and demand. People panic and spend their utility bill money on guns because thay can't see straight. I know the dealer probably has a reason for the price increase that they feel is justifiable. Likely they are worried like others that the supply is not coming back and wondering if they will have a future in the gun business. Or maybe the attitude is take it or leave it since someone will probably buy it anyway. As for me I can't afford it so it does not make any difference why they are so high. There is a gun show this weekend at bigtown in Mesquite and I may go Sunday just to watch the people. Maybe I can buy some ammo or jerky or something. Sure wish I had bought a Romanian for 350.00 when they were readily available. I can tell you one thing, shame on anyone reading this and complaining about the current gun control issues if you did not vote against Obama. It's too late to change the election but it is not too late to join the NRA and TSRA if you are not a member. :patriot:

Yeah what makes me kick myself is that I bought my Tommy Gun 3 or so months ago when there was a NM M1A sitting right next to it for $1500. Now, you can't find a NM no matter how hard you look and the Tommy guns are available everywhere at the same or better prices. D'oh!

First off, how many of you have seen the dealer cost sheet? I have, and mosty of the FLGS and Show dealers prices have gone up. This is across the board, handguns ammo, everything, the most dramatice is seen in the "utility rifle" area. And again, if you dont want to pay for it, then dont buy it, if you want it and cant afford it, get another job or save, but for goodness sake, I am getting sick and tired of hearing every body complaining about the dealers raping people, it is our own damn fault... get over it!

Slight increases, ie 10-20% are normal, expected and reasonable given the demand. 20-50% is aggravating but doable. 50-100% is absolutely immoral and wrong, period.

Geez, here we go again. Like this hasn't been beaten to death over and over.

You guys request for a fixed price market has been submitted. It'll take some time as input costs get reduced to accommodate. It sure will help kill get rid of that healthy supply and demand, buyer/seller market. I mean we certainly don't want "us" the people to have any effect one this stuff. Our Government is much better suited for it.

Of course, that type of government will require you to get your serial number tattoo for easy payment of your fixed labor payments, and they'll take care of housing and food for you as well. Once it's passed we can proudly chant "Heil" to whoever has bought the seat of Supreme Ruler.

(psst. you can NOT BUY at that price. If everyone does that, the prices will adjust. Just a thought)

The days of the $250 AK are gone. Have prices gone up? Yes. Have they gone up dramatically? Yes. Has the demand gone up? Yes. Has the demand gone up dramatically? Yes. A manufacturer or a dealer incurs extra costs to increase production, be it sales or physical production, a manufacturer, realizing there is a heavier demand and that the market will support a higher price point will raise prices... the only way they will come back down is if demand subsides. By rushing the market, we have raised the prices on our own. If you are just now begining your collection, welcome to the wonderfull (and expensive) world of firearms ownership.... And if you feel the prices are too high, again find another hobby or dont buy. Do you complain about the price of a Porsche? That it is too much for a "regular" joe to afford?

    Oh my goodness....

Talk about completely missing the point and S&D!!!

If you think $4000k for a rifle that DID NOT COST ANY MORE TO MAKE THAN IT DID A YEAR AGO (BECAUSE IT WAS!!) is not wrong, you just ain't right. This has nothing to do with free market, gov't control. It is people getting greedy and taking advantage of the situation. Like I said, reasonable increases that go with the demand are normal and accepted. To think that $4000k for a M1A is right 'because its a free market' is the same flawed thinking that the other side has that 'one gun is enough'!!!!

Simple solution... dont buy it, we have a national match on the shelf right now with 5 mags for 2500.... but bottom line, you dont like the price move on. You dont HAVE to pay what somebody is asking for something, but if you want it, you will....

If the price is too high don't buy. If enough people don't buy eventually the price will go back down. BUT people are fighting over the limited inventory and are willing to pay the price. It is not the dealers fault the consumer has more cents than sense.

For those who think the prices are high now just wait and see what happens to the prices when more unConstitutional anti Second Amendment laws are passed by our new socialist dictators in dc. How many of those who are rushing to buy now or complaining about the prices are the same people who voted for a socialist to lead our country?

If anyone here remembers Oct 94, pre-ban lowers were $600 - $700, hi-cap Glock mags were $80. The industry adjusted by importing AK kits and assembling on US receivers, ARs had flash suppressors pinned on, companies made replacement mag bodies. We're gonna be ok.

And no matter how you attempt to justify it dealers are taking advantage of fear. Soon the uninformed buyers will get what they want or they'll be broke. At that point I hope long time firearms buyers will remember who tried to tell them a $700 AR is now $1700.

Look in your phone book under "Federal Agencies" and you'll find the Dept of Treasury, Federal Trade Commission, SEC, FDLIC and some others. They set the maximum interest limit a credit card company can charge. They tell banks how much you can be loaned. They even set rules for collection. All this to protect you, the consumer

Abandon the idea that Uncle Sugar has no say in markets.

My only knock on the gun shows that I've attended recently is that the prices are no better than those at local gun shops ( in some cases, not as good ). The whole point of having a gun show, is to get the "deal". If it's not there, why go?

There is one dealer there, one of the largest handgun tables at the show, that still has very good prices on handguns. They are my first, and sometimes my only, stop for buying a handgun. It isn't often that some else is lower than they are. If paying with cash, they are typically $50 or more cheaper. Not sure how they do it, but they do. Case in point, they had a LCP there again and the table right cross from them had one for $70 more and another had it for over a $100 more (complete rip-off).
