The Live Oak Gun Show today and tomorrow at the Hilton Garden Inn.

    Next weekend in San Marcos.
Has anyone been to the San Marcos show?
Went to the last San Marcos show. I thought it was a pretty good show. Lots of tables, great variety of items. But, like most shows now a lot of the prices were insane. If you shopped around you could still find some deals. Mostly on smaller items, accessories, parts, that sort of thing. I still felt like it was worth the trip and the cost. I picked up a few things I thought were good deals and enjoyed a couple of hours looking for guns on my want list.

What I think of some of the full time show vendors:

I love to screw with them when I'm not set up at a show, by walking around with something nice and they ask what I'm asking for it, I tell them some stupid low price.
When they reach for their drug dealer roll of cash, I tell them sorry, I just sold it to another vendor for my asking price, and I just have to go out to my car for the case of ammo I have for it, and walk away...

Well, I went to the San Marcos show today. Started out on a sour note when I walked in and there was a big sign saying "Admission $20". I had looked online before I left the house and website said "Admission $15". The nice lady at the desk said that was posted by a third party site and not by them and blah blah blah. I paid the $20 and went in. The show was packed. Prices were for the most part very high. That is both good and bad. I sold two firearms to dealers for as much as I would have gladly sold them to an individual to keep and use. Then, to my surprise, I found a table with several S&W revolvers priced way less then anyone else. Stainless Airweight .38 for $420 and a model 66 for just over $500, You can still get a good deal at a gun show.

At the end of the day I'd rather spend $20 to go to a gun show for a couple of hours than to go sit in a theater and watch a movie or many other activities. Just my two cents worth.
