    Dark dots over a phosphorescent field have a higher visibility .
    Does this apply to all sights? Probably not, but some users might find it appealing.

    You might have noticed, the dots are tridimensional on this example, so it even catches any reflected light for maximum effect. Similar to spit over a rifle's front sight.
