Sitting at home from being sick and I was wiping down some guns. I’d be interested to know what guns you have that give you pleasant memories.

When I was in my early 20’s I had a mini14 (186, made 1993). It popped a lot of critters and I had some of the greatest times doing pest control out on farms in Oregon. Fast forward many years, I’m fixing my house to move to Texas. Found a 186, also made in 93. Told myself I need that before I leave Oregon. This one I won’t get rid of.

I didn't get into guns until my mid 20s either. My dad always hunted but wasn't a shooter really. I don't have the memories of being young and running through the woods with a 22.

The one that takes me back is a current one. A Savage single shot 22lr. My youngest daughter would plink with it for hours and has targets hanging on her wall. Many of you have met her at the Family Reunion Meets.

She has moved up to the 10/22 and even ARs but that beat up single shot always makes me smile.

Nice! I got a cva 20 gauge for my boy when he’s old enough.

I understand that. My boy turned 5 end of Sept. I got him a savage rascal. The pure joy I get laying side by side shooting steel rams, birds and pigs with him is almost overwhelming sometimes. He does a great job listening to my safety teaching. It is a "life" highlight.

    Gunz are icky.
When I was about 13 my grandfather gave me his shotgun.
    An Iver Johnson Champion
    single shot 12ga w/ a 32 full choke barrel.
Being broke as a church mouse it was all I had to use for a few years until I turned 18 and could purchase a more appropriate gun.
Sadly it was stolen when I was 17. Never to be seen again.
To this day whenever I see one I remember Grandfather handing it to me telling me he was "loaning it to me and I was to take care of it as he may ask for it back one day".
Once in a while I get on-line and snoop around looking for one just to remember Paw-Paw.

For me it is a Ruger 10/22. Got it for my 9th birthday in 1996. It too was stolen from me when I was 17. I have another now, but would pay any price to have mine back.

We visited my grandparents in OK every winter around Christmas. My dad would grab grandpa's Remington Model 12 22 rifle, and we would go hunting. Dove, rabbits, squirrels, all fell to the mighty Model 12. I was one of about 50 grandkids (not kidding) so I was never going to get that rifle. But I was IN LOVE with that thing.

Fast forward 40 years. I bought a box of stuff at an estate sale. It had holsters, a blown up Ruger pistol, mags, some misc stuff, and a couple of what appeared to be junk guns. $20 well spent. Most of it was just junk.

One of the "junk guns" was a 1924 edition of the Remington Model 12. I didn't even recognize it at first. It had at least 1/8' of rust on it. I actually could not ever tell what type / caliber it was until I took steel wool to it, and I had to do that three times to get to metal. And the action was so loose it wiggled around.

After much work, I was able to get that rifle to fire. Its one of my top 5 most favorite guns. I won't ever sell it, and one day one of my grandsons will own it.

There is a thread on the board about that gun. Somewhere.

I still have the 2 that I had when I was preteen, I'm 38 now. 1 is a NEF break over .410, the other is a .22 rifle. Who here knows the make of this old rifle? Anyone else have one as a kid?

Generic internet pics, dont feel like digging through the safe.

We had some guns stolen in the late 90’s when I was in my late teens. They were a New Pardner break 12ga., 10/22 Remington 1100 in 20ga. and a Crossman pump air rifle in .22. The 10/22 was my first gun, the 12ga, the first I ever purchased but the one I miss the most is that air rifle. I shot more empty cans and beer bottles along side the road that I can even begin to count. I’ve replaced the others over the years but never found the air rifle.

Dad used to shoot his .22 in a makeshift range in the basement using the old coal bin as a backstop with stacks of newspapers to catch the flack.
My first .22 was a Revelation (probably built by Marlin) that I bought at Western Auto with grass cutting earnings.
I've been since bitten by the TC contender bug and I can't get enough.
Lately been making custom furniture for my own use.

A T/C contender 22 Hornet was the second handgun I ever shot. My first was Ruger MKII on the same day. I think I was 7 or 8.

My most memorable gun was my Dads old J.C.Higgins 12 gauge pump. I grew up in the Texas Panhandle and was a jack rabbit, cotton tail, rattlesnake, coyote, wild dog, goose and pheasant killing S.O.B. When Dad died my little brother won the draw for it. I ended up with Dads first gun, a breakover J. Stephens 12 gauge built in 1937 bought at Monkey Wards. It hangs over our fireplace. Here is a pic of a Higgins I got off the net.

I got a Daisy BB gun for Xmas when I was 6-7. By the time I was 9 I was allowed to prowl Grandma's 160 acres by myself with her Stevens 22 auto. Dove hunted with a single shot 410 for years. In the evening we (brother and I) would load up in Grandmas '54 Chevy and drive the "block" shooting all the jackrabbits we could. Got where I could spot them by their ears. Once it got dark:30 we would go fox hunting. Headlights (not car) and homemade fox calls made from cow horn. Drive around that end of the county and just pull over on the side of the road and call. Dad knew all the good calling spot. Everyone knew everyone and no-one cared. Out in West Texas, where else. Coleman Co
