I'm wanting to trade my XDm 9mm for a 3 inch 1911 and a friend suggested I might try one of the Gun shows. Any of you'all that have experience trading a these show can give me so help on how to go about it? Can I just walk in with the gun case and start to haggle or do I need to register. Thanks in advance

The last show I was at, you just brought your gun in and had it checked at the door. Make sure you have no ammo with it and they usually ziptie the action so as to prevent it from functioning. Once that is done you just cruise in and try and find what you are looking for and put your bartering skills to the test. I'm not sure if this is still the norm or if they handle things differently since the last show I went to was several years back.

Yep. Still the same. Kinda hard to deal with anyone right now; nobody wants to come off their absurd high prices on used guns. Most dealers who had been more than reasonable a few months ago have gone up as well. Been looking for an XD45c and the price from the same dealer went up about $60 since I bought the last XD two months ago. Wouldn't hurt to try; you never know.

Okay, thanks I'm gonna try to trade my new XDm 9mm for a smaller 1911. I haven't had much luck online so this might do the trick. I'm having the opposite problem trading my XDm which is "new", everyone wants to buy it, but for a fraction of what I paid for it which is why I'm going the trade route. I just want a fair trade, but I've been offered a whole lotta used and abused stuff instead. If this fails I'll just keep the XDm and send it to get a trigger job and use it for competition.

    Already did and no takers....

Your best bet is do what I did. Sell your Pistol and use the cash against your new purchase. You can easily get about 500+ for your XDM. And than you can get your self like a STI Escort, Rogue, LS9, or even a Kimber Ultra Carry II and most likely all you have to come up is about 300+ out of pocket. Is what I did. I sold my XDSC here in the board (Not officially yet) and I will use that cash to get me a GP6.

    Good Luck!

From my experience of selling my xdm 40 is that nobody beleives the xdm hype. I myself personally loved it and sold it to purchase the 9mm xdm and am going to purchase another for my wifey for idpa.

Not to hi-jack my own thread, but my first 2 pistols were an XD 45 service and an XD 9mm sc both were fine shooters. The XDm 9mm is by far a much better evolution of the XD series, imagine being able to fire without reloading 20 rounds of 9mm, while most others are changing out mags. My wanting to trade it has nothing to do with it performance, rather my needing and wanting a 3 inch 1911 for CCW. I know that I could offer it up for $500 bucks and it would be gone this afternoon, I'm just not willing to take that kind of loss at the moment. So I'm willing to wait and try the trade shows.
