Yes, it means that you can keep what you already own. Actually, it means you have to keep it.
This may appease some who already own one or more so called "Assault Weapons", but it means that you can never sell them, pass them down to heirs, or even loan one to a friend for a day.
What is the minimum age of long gun ownership? is there intrafamilial transfer?

can I gift my 5 year old an AR?

if so, I may buy all my kids some guns. Because I currently do not own any.

What is the minimum age of long gun ownership? is there intrafamilial transfer? Currently, there is no minimum age for ownership, just to purchase from an FFL.

can I gift my 5 year old an AR? I don't see why not.

if so, I may buy all my kids some guns. Because I currently do not own any. Always a good idea.

On any given day, we are one massacre away from confiscation.

If 25 AQ folks showed up at that March in DC Sunday, and mowed down a few hundred kids with AK-47s, we would be turning them in.

And that is how it has always been. Gun laws are recent event driven.

Was not the 1934 firearms act about gang land violance created by leftist Prohibition? Suppressors allegedly were added on by wildlife dept to stop poaching...

Makes as much sense as taking guns away from law-abiding people because criminals use them to kill others:
