    Hello all,
I have been overseas some time now and I have permission (from wifey) to purchase a couple of pistols when I come home for a short visit in a few days.... Heres my question, Does Texas still have a wait period for purchasing handguns and how long is it?

Now here's my add on question... Where can I get one of those Sig P6s in the Killeen/Waco/Austin area? A FTF would be great. Didnt see any on TexasGunTrader.

    Thanks, Dave

No wait period in Texas. If you have a CHL, you will fill out the 4473 and out you go.

If not, the dealer calls the FBI who tells them to either proceed, delay or denied. A proceed means you take the gun. A delay can be caused for many reasons, and they have three days to give an answer.

Yep, that's the great thing about Texas is there is no wait period on handguns, rifles, shotguns, etc.

As far as P6's go, at $279 this is about the best price out there:

Red's Indoor Range, south location, in Austin has one for $336 I believe. Here's a link to their site:

Here are a couple in New Braunfels, listed on Gunbroker:

    Thanks

I would like to thank you both for the Info....Looks like I may be getting one in a few days then. Might even get me a 1911 while I am at it. Hopefully between getting to know my wife again and closing on the new house I can get some range time in...

    Again thanks,,

Also, if you obtain a CHL, you are legally allowed to bypass the NICS check and can simply purchase a handgun without the check. However, just be aware that even with a CHL, some places will still require the NICS check as sort of a CYA measure if you get my meaning. ;) Either way, the NICS check only takes ~2 minutes anyways so no biggie. At least it's not a 10 day wait or anything! ;)

    Thanks!

My CHL will be my next trip home... I think closing on the house is enough paperwork for one trip. Maybe by the time I get my CHL in the mail, I will be ready to come home for good and be able to it:D.

    Happy Shooting,,
