I say this often...but things are not going to change until we the people get fed up and stand up. There are more of us than them, but until the majority of us stand up against the small number of them, then they will keep doing what they are doing.

I agree. A lot of folks who worship the "free market" think that big companies are some virtuous entities that do right or get punished. Once the companies figure out how to still make money but increasingly from the gov, not the economy then they are no longer free market bastions of reason and economic purity.

Why be virtuous, and being punished is a freaking joke. Big corporations run the dang country, they buy the politicians and the politicians do their bidding. You have to be blind to not see that.

I completely agree, but unfortunately I don't think enough people want to make whatever sacrifice that might entail.
Countries with a comfortable middle class just don't make great environments for true change or revolution.

A lot of the Rush Limbaugh et al types paint that as the battle. Its a 19th century view of capital vs labor.

Since WW2 and the big gov expansion, increasingly major sectors of our economy have been exported by our government or have joined with big gov to stay alive and in some cases thrive. The grain economy is a huge example of this. There are many midwestern farmers and farm industry farmers that claim to be good republicans but are happily watching their fortunes rise with federal dollars.

In the old view the insurance companies should be fighting tooth and nail against the fed gov expansion into the healthcare insurance industry. They put up some resistance but in the end it appears they will simply live to profit another day.

This is socialism and i wish more politicians would plainly say that and the public would understand what it means.

Take a look at your 401k.
You might not mind so much if these companies make "outrageous" profits.

I dont mind profits, even outrageous ones. What I cant stand is crony capitalism.....and the fact that these big corporations influence laws, regulations and the general direction of this nation. Just because it "benefits" them doesnt mean its good for the country.

It's hard to believe what they're doing isn't just illegal but they've wrote it into law.... Could you imagine the fallout you or I would endure if we set up an auto-bail out for our personal business with public money.
I guess that's one of the benefits of bedding down with a corrupt government though.
Things are only getting worse, everyday that passes more BS like this is being forced down our throats.
    One of these days....

Ted Cruz on Fox News just called this an "imperial presidency" and is calling out POTUS and Congress over and over again.

Appointing fed court nominees when senate is in session but determining they arent in session? Unconstitutional. Changing laws, ignoring laws...unconstitutional.

Socialism, crony capitalism, corporatocracy... Not sure what exactly you'd call this form of government we currently have but it's definitely not a republic or a democracy as so many believe. This is "take from everyone, and give to the highest political donors". The whole system is designed to harness the value you generate as an individual to empower the state and make the friends of politicians rich. Feudalism for the modern age...

The accepted term for what Russia became was "kleptocracy", rule by the people most skilled at theft. I feel we're headed that direction; we just do a better job of plastering a veneer of righteousness over the whole messy thing.
