Not exactly Texas area but I hope you won't mind.
I'm a regular at XDTalk and saw a link posted there so I figured registering here would be in order and to wish you guys all the best in making this forum as crowdy as possible.

There was a thread asking "What would you like to see more on this site?".
Well, the answer is so darn simple: MOAH GUNS!

    C ya around!

Hello there. How is everything there? Does your country make ammo like Serbia. What do you think about our bailout plan? Is it Socialism creeping in?

Yes we do, in town of Karlovac (birth place of Springfield XD). Never shot the ammo though but I heard some bad things about it. I use german Geckos (9mm) and czech Sellier & Bellots for my gun.

    Bailout? Socialism? Huh? :D

Welcome. How are the gun laws in your country? Was it difficult for you to get your guns?

Well, they are not as liberal as in some of your US states, but considering everything, I won't complain too much.

Basically, you need to fill out the form and apply for a Firearm Possesion Permit (not a carry permit!). The whole process takes about 30 days, during that time the police does an extensive background check on you, you also have to undergo a medical exam (health and psychological tests, but unless you have some serious condition, these are pretty much a formality).

In some cases if you're "known" to have a violent nature (domestic disputes, bad blood between you and neighbours, beating your wife etc.) chances are, your application will be rejected.

If you're getting your gun for the FIRST TIME, a police officer will pay you a visit and have a informal conversation with you just to check you out.

Once you get your first permit, those after are merely a formality (unless in the meantime you commited a crime).

I speak from my own experience. First time is a drag, but next time is all about waiting, not having too worry about anything.

Once the 30 day period expires, you get the permit and that's pretty much it.

The permit is valid for the next 5 years, afterwards you need to do those medical tests again and that's it.

We are however, not allowed to CC. Actually, you -can- but you have to provide "strong" arguments for it..which is kinda lame..(uhm..right to selfdefence?) but hey, some other european countries have it a lot tougher.

Welcome... Croatia rocks, spent a couple weeks in Rijeka and had a blast.

    Hey, that's where I live!
    Glad you liked the city.

WOW.... yeah, as bad as that sounds to probably everyone on this board you're right in saying that that's not bad compared to a lot of European, and Asian countries as well.

Yeah Croatia is a great country, really beautiful and the people are very friendly. But when I was their I was young and a bit on the alcoholic side... my most distinct memory was getting a tattoo in the back of a smokey bar.

I did make it up to Opatia, that place was a bit more touristy.. they had some cool shops and everything too.
