HELP..Info on Specific Law Banning Firearms on College Campuses

I am writing an 8 page paper on the political process and my topic is the specific law banning handguns on college campuses. Personally I support lifting this ban, and there is a huge amount of information to support this view. However, my paper is supposed to be focused more on the process...I.E, how a specific law became law, who inspired it, who has supported it, who has not, when this process took place, and then to evaluate the policy itself. Can anyone point me in the direction of a place I could find this information?
