I hunt hogs by green light at night since they’re nocturnal. I’ve used the Wildgame Innovations brand motion activated light for over 5 years. I’m on my second one and it’s gone kaput. I’m debating whether to buy another one for $30 or build my own on a fence pole with a green LED light bar and the proper battery/solar panel and motion sensor. It could easily be over double the cost BUT it would be brighter and cast a wider light

    What do y’all think?
Any ideas or have done this yourself?

I just built an IR Light box with solar panel & battery....similar to what you want. The box, battery & panel i got from a buddy that is a flow tech/meter reader ...the light i got on ebay...Amazon didnt have the same light. The ir flood light has a built in photo cell that i wanted. The controller was about $15 on amazon.

Depending on the lights you use depends on the panel & battery. Bigger lights need more power from the solar panel to charge the battery. But since it will be motion detected it should cut down on power consumption...vs a photo cell staying on dusk to dawn.

I was figuring on the same components from a deer feeder but without the timer and the motion sensor instead. Maybe two batteries in series so it could run longer
