Both have cannelure, approximately the same location but the SP is noticeably shorter. Until I saw them together I thought the SPs were 62s.

I'm asking for tips & tricks on seating, not deforming the SPs. I will look up charge weights tomorrow after my day is done(unless my day runs me by 10Ring, then I'll be starting early, like around lunchtime).

I usually load midrange and mid cannelure.

    Thanks.

You might have to chamfer the inside of the case necks to get the flat base bullets started.

If that ain't enough you might need to expand the mouths a little. I never had to though.

    Thanks guys.

The length below the cannelure is the same so I'd like to have that same space being held by the case to prevent premature bullet removal.

I'm sure I'm worrying about nothing.

Also, same powder load is okay, right?

As a rule but one may eant a different powder charhe than the other to be accurate. I would worry more about overall length than where the canelure seats.

Same bullet weight, OAL, and mid range charges then yes.

If you are testing for ultimate accuracy the loads may vary greatly or even require different powders.

I load my SPs into the cannelure. Very accurate out to 300 yds. I did do test rounds in order to get the most accurate load. Don't recall the powder charge, but I'll post it tonight.

No loading today but maybe after 45cal Tuesday.

I'm shooting 200 yd plates for now so: a hit is good and a miss is not surprising for me. I'll be starting with a scoped rifle that can hit very consistently at that target so we'll just see what we'll just see.

23.8g of H335. You should try loading some test rounds with a 2g range, using half grain increments.

I was 3/4" low at 300 yds. 100 yd groups are under 3/4" spread.

I loaded some rounds(not dummy)this morning. I was hoping to try them out this week but it's looking like next Tuesday.

I use a Giraud/dewalt triway trimmer so it chamfers so loading was easy.

Everything else being more or less equal, I've always found boat tail bullets to be more accurate.
Flat base bullets seem to be the go to for accuracy at a couple hundred yards or less. Any further than that an boat tail definitely.

Just what I have read anyways. Not experienced it myself though.

Charlie, since boattail soft points are readily available would you choose them over ball, same brand?

Keith, when he was at 10Ring told me he found soft points more accurate. I asked about the flat bottom being hard to load and he said chamfer and you're good.

    I can't wait for Tuesday!
