I am down in Porter (South of Conroe, north of Houston) visiting my father and want to take him shooting all my guns.. Finally got a chance to swing by freedom munitions today.. bought 500 147 GR HP and 500 Reman 5.56... Is Thunder gun range a good one? Cause that's where I plan on taking him.. I couldnt find any other decent outdoor ranges open on sunday that allow me to shoot my mosin...

Bailey's is horrible! Do not go there.
Is this still the case? They were awful the last time I was there but that was many, many years ago. If they're still as bad as they were back then, I find it amazing they can stay in business.

Honestly it has been some time since I visited this range.
The last time was enough that I've never returned.
Range Nazi "safety officer" sillyness to the Nth degree.
    Very restrictive.
    Avoid.

That's a shame, it was an interesting place with all the reloading gear, game trophies, and shotgun area.

You can try Rives Rifle Range... it's a little of a drive from where you are.
    2817 Fm 834 Rd W, Liberty, TX 77575. It's $5 per gun.
They have a 200 yard range & also allow you to shoot tanerite. They are pretty friendly & not typical range Nazi's. I had a good time last time i was there. I have a 2 hr drive if i want to go so dont get to go that often.

I went to Thunder, it's OK but damn they charge you by the GUN... it was 80 dollars for me and my dad to shoot.. unbelievable!
Yeah, Thunder needs to reassess that model, almost makes you want to CHEAT! Jk, but seriously.

At least it's safer than many, unlike HOT WELLS...never felt safe there, now never will go again.

I have always liked Carter County, particularly the one on Treaschwig, and American Shooting Center on Westheimer. About a year ago they open up Saddle River Ridge near me, and the one time I have been it is a clean, safe, high-powered indoor range.

Most important - get out and shoot!

I never had a negative experience there.
Was on first name basis with some of the employees, often given free range time by the girl up front.
It was the only place I shot for a long time.
