Sounds like Houston wants a London / UK style of surveillance society.

My guess is that if/when this is struck down, the council and police will pressure insurance companies to make this a requirement for coverage.

Insurance companies will get push back if they try mandating businesses give up 4th amendment protections

HPD’s chief can go fûck himself on the way to a one way helicopter ride.

The City Attorney and Chief of Police for the Houston Police Department recommend that City Council approve an Ordinance amending Chapter 28 of the Code of Ordinances to add a new Article XXI, containing Sections 28-671 through 673, and to add a new Section 28-411.
As background, the City of Houston has experienced an increase of violent crimes due to the pandemic, social anxiety and economic uncertainty, open carry law

But it has been Dodge City on Saturday night with all those open carry incidents.

I see this being ripe for abuse. What’s to stop the mayor from “leaking” footage during an election year of an opponent in a strip club? Though those establishments are legal, attendance to such places is not exactly something a candidate would want to advertise.

When you let the commiecrats run ANYTHING, you can expect them to screw it up.

After all, these are the people who believe men can get pregnant, babies are not human beings, criminals need your love and forgiveness, people who enter the country illegally are not breaking the law and need to be given cell phones and plane tickets, masks kill viruses, Joe Biden doesn't have dementia, the Freedom of Speech is a dangerous idea that needs to be stopped, that BB guns are firearms, and that no private citizen should be allowed to own a firearm unless he/she/it is wealthy and contributes to the DNC.

Many cities have tried this with the 'ring' type doorbell and it didn't work in the courts. IIRC Ring/Google actually tried to get communities to do this and voluntarily connect/allow LE.

No, HPD Chief and the HPOU officials aren’t saying what they say because they’re being coerced by the mayor or the council. The specific offices/officers of the org have, since the beginning of time, opposed the second amendment.

Don’t believe me? Go look up the invited HPOU testimony on every 2A-related hearing the legislature has ever had.

Do you see a 4th amendment challenge succeeding?
Does Houston city council not see it?
Can they just pass any rule and see who obeys it?
Fuk Houston.......it's the armpit of Texas and needs serious excision..........all as a result of Katrina refugees.

Clarification : Houston is kind of like that boil in the armpit that won't go away........It needs to be opened up and drained.

In my defense............I know that I live in Austin. Austin is a cancerous brain tumor in the state that needs targeted radiation treatment to kill the cancer but leave the good tissue.
