I use a chalk bag for rock climbing if I only need to carry enough to reload 8 shells or so. It's light weight, compact and works pretty well. Plus the chalk bags are only around 15 bucks (if that) depending on what you get and where you get it.

Depends on what you’re carrying for, and do you save you’re hulls.

Dove hunting, a sports bucket with extra shells. A game vest is usually too hot during dove season.

Quail, harness-style game vest with loose rounds dumped in the pockets.

Range, the typical double-pouch, top with a box of ammo, bottom pouch for empties.

I’ve found bandoliers, especially elastic types, suck. Heavy brush where you find Texas quail will quickly stretch the loops and shells start falling out.

I guess leather or Kydex is good for action-type shotgun shooting.

This is my old bird hunting set-up.
Shells go in the right and/or left bags, birds go in the back bag.
