That’s Jim Finch, aka Longhunter, a National and World Champion in SASS.

With the exception of the gun, he explains his secrets in the video.

The rifle is a Winchester 1873 clone, considered by many as the fastest rifle in CAS/SASS. His is highly modified like most in the game. Besides internals being slicked up, the lever throw has been shortened as well.

His speed is fairly common, with others (usually the pups) being faster.
IIRC, the '73's are typically faster to cycle than the '92's & '94's......

He has a short stroke kit and slicked up action

Winchester Model 94 has a longer action to accommodate rifle length cartridges. When the Model 1892 was phased out, they moved many of the pistol cartridges to the Model 94.

Winchester 94s tend to jam up when you try to run them too fast with pistol caliber rounds. My brother tried to use a Winchester 94 when he started SASS and ended up trading it in on a Marlin 94. Winchester 1873 clones are sweet. I got my son one to use for SASS.

Model 1866 and Model 1873 rifles are pistol caliber and very light recoil. I played SASS for several years and used both, both were simple mods like short stroke and polished internals. Model 1894 Winchesters do come in pistol calibers but generally are in a rifle caliber. No way to shoot a M-Win. 1894 in 30-30 Win as a 38 special '73. BUT with practice an 1866 or 73 in 38 special can be fired as fast as or faster than an AR 15.

Pretty impressive.

But John Wayne could get 12 shots out of six shooter.
