Fortunately God has blessed both my wife and I with good jobs so I have been able to actually shoot more 5.56 than ever before. I simply bite the bullet when it comes time to replenish the case I'm drawing from without having to dip into my strategic reserve. Having said that, I don't shoot .22LR any where near as much as I used to because that is one cartridge I won't pay the gougers for though I might change my mind when I drop below 1K rounds left.

That is simply a stupid question ChrisX. You must be a DNC troll. Try trolling for fish instead (if you even know how to fish).

DNC Executive Director: Obama Supports Reinstating Assault Weapons Ban - YouTube

The Democratic Party Platform | Democrats.org
Firearms. We recognize that the individual right to bear arms is an important part of the American tradition, and we will preserve Americans' Second Amendment right to own and use firearms. We believe that the right to own firearms is subject to reasonable regulation. We understand the terrible consequences of gun violence; it serves as a reminder that life is fragile, and our time here is limited and precious. We believe in an honest, open national conversation about firearms. We can focus on effective enforcement of existing laws, especially strengthening our background check system, and we can work together to enact commonsense improvements—like reinstating the assault weapons ban and closing the gun show loophole—so that guns do not fall into the hands of those irresponsible, law-breaking few.

TexasR.N.While I cannot cite a specific gun control platform our dear leader ran on

    As I suspected.
16 years of our dear leaders comments and voting on this topic is above your level of reading comprehension. Perhaps you should just stick with Go, dog. Go! and leave the important topics to the adults. Now run along like a good little useful idiot and return to the socialist progressive rock whence you came.

While I cannot cite a specific gun control platform our dear leader ran on, will you take 16 years of voting and comments on this subject?

In March 2004, the Illinois Senate passed Senate Bill 2165, a law introduced in response to DeMar's case, with provisions designed to assert a right of citizens to protect themselves against home invasions, such that self-defense requirements would be viewed to take precedence over local ordinances against handgun possession. The measure passed the Illinois Senate by a vote of 38-20. Barack Obama was one of the 20 state senators voting against the measure.
Governor Rod Blagojevich vetoed the bill. On Nov. 9, 2004, the Illinois Senate voted 40-18 to override Blagojevich's veto. Again, Obama acted against the bill.
On Nov. 17, the Illinois House voted overwhelmingly, 85-30, to override the governor's veto and Senate Bill 2165 became law.
    Barack Obama on Gun Control

What Obama said in San Francisco seemed to denigrate the very people he was struggling to win: "You go into some of these small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothing's replaced them," Obama told his donors. "Each successive administration has said that somehow these communities are going to regenerate and they have not. So it's not surprising then that they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or antitrade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations."
The fund-raiser was closed to the press. No one from the Obama campaign even had a recording of the comments. Hillary had argued that she was the real champion of the beleaguered middle class, while Obama was the darling of the latte-drinkers. She said, "Senator Obama's remarks are elitist and out of touch. They are not reflective of the values and beliefs of Americans." Obama tried to backpedal.
    Barack Obama on Gun Control

Q: Is the D.C. law prohibiting ownership of handguns consistent with an individual’s right to bear arms?A: As a general principle, I believe that the Constitution confers an individual right to bear arms. But just because you have an individual right does not mean that the state or local government can’t constrain the exercise of that right, in the same way that we have a right to private property but local governments can establish zoning ordinances that determine how you can use it.
2008 Democratic primary debate in Philadelphia

Q: You said recently, “I have no intention of taking away folks’ guns.” But you support the D.C. handgun ban, and you’ve said that it’s constitutional. How do you reconcile those two positions?A: Because I think we have two conflicting traditions in this country. I think it’s important for us to recognize that we’ve got a tradition of handgun ownership and gun ownership generally. And a lot of law-abiding citizens use it for hunting, for sportsmanship, and for protecting their families. We also have a violence on the streets that is the result of illegal handgun usage. And so I think there is nothing wrong with a community saying we are going to take those illegal handguns off the streets. And cracking down on the various loopholes that exist in terms of background checks for children, the mentally ill. We can have reasonable, thoughtful gun control measure that I think respect the Second Amendment and people’s traditions.

2000: cosponsored bill to limit purchases to 1 gun per month

Obama sought moderate gun control measures, such as a 2000 bill he cosponsored to limit handgun purchases to one per month (it did not pass). He voted against letting people violate local weapons bans in cases of self-defense, but also voted in2004 to let retired police officers carry concealed handguns.

    • Principles that Obama supports on gun issues:
    • Ban the sale or transfer of all forms of semi-automatic weapons.
    • Increase state restrictions on the purchase and possession of firearms.
    • Require manufacturers to provide child-safety locks with firearms.

Voted NO on prohibiting lawsuits against gun manufacturers.
A bill to prohibit civil liability actions from being brought or continued against manufacturers, distributors, dealers, or importers of firearms or ammunition for damages, injunctive or other relief resulting from the misuse of their products by others.
    Voting YES would:
    • Exempt lawsuits brought against individuals who knowingly transfer a firearm that will be used to commit a violent or drug-trafficking crime
    • Exempt lawsuits against actions that result in death, physical injury or property damage due solely to a product defect
    • Call for the dismissal of all qualified civil liability actions pending on the date of enactment by the court in which the action was brought
    • Prohibit the manufacture, import, sale or delivery of armor piercing ammunition, and sets a minimum prison term of 15 years for violations
    • Require all licensed importers, manufacturers and dealers who engage in the transfer of handguns to provide secure gun storage or safety devices

It hasn't effected my shooting at all. I shoot almost every day (home range).

It was pretty obvious what would happen if obama was elected, so I began stocking up on ammo and reloading components.

The only problem I have is giving ammo to people that didn't plan ahead for what was obviously coming.

Yes, the important topics like lying to create a story that doesn't exist and name calling when someone points it out. Terribly adult of you. Clearly you've won the day with your intellectual superiority.

1 billion dollars of surplus ammo that the government just HAD to buy during a crunch and now HAS to destroy? I think I know where peanut brain stands on the Gun Control debate.

The information I posted contained the voting history and or words from our dear leader. When it comes to lying perhaps you missed one of the biggest in recent history......"If you like your health care plan, you can keep your health care plan", this of course from the lips of our dear leader.

and name calling when someone points it out.
I assume you are referring to the term useful idiot?
Useful idiot: Many years ago, a phrase was coined by the leaders of the Soviet Union to describe those in the West who naively promoted the cause of Russian Communism when in reality they were held in contempt and were being cynically used by the Soviet hierarchy. The term "useful idiot" more than ever applies to a vast swath of citizens in the United States who have been cynically used by the hardcore left for a cause they are unwilling to understand.

    Terribly adult of you.
I have presented nothing more than accurate information concerning the beliefs our dear leader appears to hold, related to firearms and firearm ownership in this country, per his own words and voting history. If I am wrong, then please provide the facts to show contrary information to what I have provided. Please, by all means, enlighten us as to how our current president is an ardent supporter of the Second Amendment, and has done nothing other than to encourage gun ownership and advance gun rights in the United States of America.

Clearly you've won the day with your intellectual superiority.
I am flattered by the compliment.

I looked up my order from Palmetto and bought 1000 rounds of PMC 556 FMJBT for $289 + shipping in August of 2012.

Best price I found just now on gunbot.net is ~$365.

I also bought 40g CCI Mini-Mag ammo in the 100 round sleeve for $5.89 each at the same time.
I just got 5k rnds PMC 223 for $349 shipped 2 weeks ago

Didn't BHO end up causing the sale of more guns and ammo than any President in history?
I learned from the first shortage, and planned for the second. That leaves me shooting as much as I did pre 2008, to answer the OP.
