Snail darters and concho river snakes.

Think about it. If you're old enough.
If not, do some research. Google not included.
You will hardly find white guys with naturally-curly hair, or even perms (fake curls), in parts of America where there are almost no Jews, Semitics, Assyrians, Greeks or Italians. This pretty much includes the South, the Plains States, "Tejas" and the mid-west.

    Is it just me or:???
    1. I thought DP left us a few threads ago. Said he was.
    2. I thought he started this thread.
    3. Then he said it was serious.
    4. Since then he has rattled about anything and everything else BUT the subject of this thread.

    Where is he from again?????

Sorry, the guy that posted the Simon & Garfunkel record just caused me to "hijack" my own thread. Please be a forgiving kind Christian. I promise I will post no more off the subject of my own thread except to reply to another's off-the-subject post. Boy Scouts honor.

It's a bad poem set to music. The herbs listed in the album's namesake probably are still important. Cows eat herbs. No herbs, no cows. No cows: no beef, no milk, no Jello, no shoe leather, no horse saddles. Beef tastes better seasoned anyway. Cows are herbivores.

You are a native Texan? Every white Texan, and southerner, I met in the army had straight hair, or hair with a wave or two in some cases. I've met lots of Texans in the service. The Winter Brothers? The
    Edgar Winter Group,
    the albino of Frankenstein notoriety?

I think op forgot to mention peyote in his diet.
I don't eat cactus directly, but who knows what food in my list, or medicine/pharmaceutical on my list of meds prescriptions, depends on it, directly or indirectly, even? For all you know, your hamburgers, fries and beer may depend on spotted owls in some remote way.

Spotted owls kill mice. Mice otherwise invade grain supplies. Cows feed on grain.

OK, so then be more specific than a CNN article. You (or they) didn't mention anything about how much of a roll back or if the previous administration(s) had extended things too far and this was just a move to balance out the cost/benefit side.

Is it worth shutting down all farming in California to save one non-beneficial animal? Should we be upset that dinosaurs no longer roam the planet? There are more pet Tigers in the US than there are in the wild in the world. If the endangered species act outlawed owning pet tigers, does that help or hurt the population?

Nature, an invading asteroid or meteor, not man, killed off the T Rex's and such. If the animal in question doesn't benefit mankind in any way, shape or form, then I see no reason to shut down essential farming in California to save it. Essential farming doesn't include non-medicinal marijuana or heavy-water-consuming almond trees which deplete the state's aquifers and cause serious drought issues but make a handful super rich. Wild animals, as tigers and lions, belong in the wild only. If mother nature kills them off, that's her prerogative, not our business. It's our business not to allow man to hunt them to extinction.

Man has screwed up the world mostly by overpopulating. Both the wolves and the Native Americans had sense enough to keep their numbers limited.
A pair of wolves mates for life. No promiscuity.

I'm starting to follow you. So we don't care if tigers live or die. The crops in California (and elsewhere) depend on what animal it might be saving. We'll skip the nature vs. man made portion for now.

I do happen to like almonds though. Who gets to decide the importance of the animals that need protecting from the almond trees? Because as we all know, the federal government is the most efficient organization when it comes to getting things done at a reasonable cost (sarcasm - I don't know which smiley thing that's supposed to be)

The SCIENTIFIC community. Those with doctorates from Stanford, Yale, Harvard, Oxford and the Ivy League schools. Govt. regulators on wildlife, conservation and environment should heed SCIENCE. The biologists. The life specialists. After all, aren't your game regulations as sport hunters and anglers predicated upon scientific studies? Whitetail deer herds need thinning for balance but they don't need to be hunted to extinction.

My Uncle had cats in his barn to take care of the Mice.
