    They do cause more drag.
    Maybe the fact that he was shooting straight down could have something to do with it.
    Some guns come with different springs for use with a suppressor.

    I don’t know much about suppressors. Why does he keep racking the slide each time? Does a can prevent the gun from cycling properly?

    Yep. Subsonic ammo usually won't cycle a semi-auto pistol or rifle, which is why a lot of people only use them in revolvers or bolt action rifles...
