I've always maintained that America knows more about American Idol than the Presidential Election. Most Americans know nothing of the political process, but they're tuned into the irrelevant, pop culture gossip. Sure, we can blame our media, but the fault ultimately lies with us. We gobble this stuff up like Halloween candy, but aren't interested in the more germane facts. Our public school system doesn't teach it and, unless we seek this information out, we just don't get it. Let's face it. Most Americans really aren't interested. If it's not juicy or controversial, we're just not interested. Very, very sad.

Our American Dream has all but faded. I've always rejected the saying, "We get the government we deserve." I don't deserve this. Unfortunately, I'm not in the majority, it seems, and those who wished for it are about to get it. There's no better education than the hard slap of reality.

Sad, but not surprising. The average American is an idiot. I've given up trying to explain simple concepts and ideas because they just don't get it or refuse to. I think they are all going to be in for a shock within the next 2 years.

Lot of issues in this election, media, money, lack of a GOP candidate that could get the correct ideas across, but education is a huge part of it.
Public schools are in my opinion hurting America while we have some good teachers the system itself is far left, simply they are teaching a socialist view, America is bad, white Christan's bad, being patriotic is racist, etc.

Number of things we need to do, term limits on congress, not more then 8 years, president no more then 6, limit money that can be spent. Long term we must change or eliminate public school system provide parents opportunity to send kids to private schools. Look our system is broke from corrupt government, greedy corporations, and poor education system and simply if we want America to continue we need the above changes but certainly this election did nothing for us.:(

As a senior citizen raised and worked with ww2 vets I witnessed the changes in our society and its down hill slide start in the last 60's I read predictions of what is happening now and honestly I gave the America people more credit they would not allow this however once again we have a school system that have spent the past 38 years teaching social engineering and nothing else now simply we will pay.

I think laziness is one of the very few root causes of all our problems in this country. I suffer from it sometimes. Though, it's to the point where people are so incredibly lazy that they look for nothing except convenience in EVERYTHING. Convenience in politics and understanding a complicated political process? No problem. Just watch the news and whatever is more inline with your personal emotions, well that's what's right. ;) The annoying thing is, even as lazy as I am, I still manage to stay informed even with half @ssed research. It takes little to no effort to do a short Google search on any topic and come up with at least a handful of facts to inform people on pretty much any topic. Most of the lies spread these days could so easily be disproved if every single person would just agree to themselves that they would spend at least 15 minutes on Google with any subject that comes up and they aren't educated on. Though people can't even do that these days. We have some very basic fundamental problems in society that are being reinforced in people through various societal functions these days (public school, major media, entertainment, etc). It's really a lot like debugging networking components, or even treating an illness. People tend to focus on identifying and addressing the symptoms, but the root cause still remains so the problem never truly gets fixed. I've said it before and I'll say it again. The problems start in the HOME! Raise your damn kids, give 'em a spanking when they need it, love them and let them know they are loved, and teach them respect and self sufficiency. Unfortunately the idiots breed too, so their kids are kind of doomed from the get go, and then there is the whole snowball effect because of it. ;)

Couldn't have said it better myself.

Too many people take things at face value instead of taking the time to do the research.
Parents aren't being parents anymore opting to be friends instead of making the hard choices as far as their kids go. It's sad when good teachers are retiring because they've been hamstringed by school admininstrators who get an earful from parents who think the teachers are picking on their kids. It's getting uglier everyday.

Usually, when I view a political ad for any candidate I find myself wondering "Do they really think I'm THAT stupid?" Apparently they do, and apparently we are.
I guess "we" as a society are that stupid. If individuals would put down their People magazine and not just believe the rhetoric they hear and go to the trouble to look up someone's voting record (which is all we know about the Messiah right now) maybe they would see through a good speech writer for a change. We will get the change they wanted, that's for sure - I just hope I have enough ammo loaded up.

I agree however remember parent of today are graduates of the public
school system which has taught the any goes life as long as it makes
you feel good. Lack of standards, morals and the idea of making yourself
happy at the expense of others has moved us to this place. It is a simple
matter of common sense, right and wrong, as a nation we have lost this.
