Ask the buyer If they work for the ATF and let there be a serious pause while you stare at them
That usually weeds them out
Yup your tough guy stare gets them every time lol

OK, enough of the jibber-jabber....whatcha selling?!?
Not a bad thought but they could have borrowed a ride.As long as the buyer is a Texas resident and not prohibited from owning a gun (felon, gang banger, etc.), then you can legally sell him a gun in a private sale. He gives you the cash, you give him the gun. It's no different than selling a toaster or bicycle.
If they roll up in a truck with Texas plates and a Texas registration sticker in the window, and they speak English, that's due diligence for me to cover the Texas residence part. Some folks will ask to see a TxDL or even CHL. If they ask me, I will show them but I won't let them copy anything down - it's none of their business. As for the felon/gangbanger part, you can simply ask them, "Are you legally allowed to own a gun?" If they say yes, then that is due diligence. It's not your responsibility to prove they're telling the truth.
Of course, use common sense.
I knew that was BS before reading other replies, nice! Also, it's illegal to use a Bill of Sale.
Until you get caught!
Did you read the OP?
Don't forget a bill of sale...
I'd probably get a bill of sale and CHL just to be safe. That's my due diligence.
Otherwise, as someone said, consignment is another great way to sell your guns.
It's the kind of question a new member might ask if he/she didn't have enough posts to place a classifieds ad...just sayin'.
