Just wondering what everyone thought of the brand in general
do you feel different about the revolvers than semi auto pistols?
Older verses newer models?
I know there are some that have them and like them. Me, I would spend my money on something else. Again, that's me. I've bought quite a few higher end guns (Sigs, HK's Dan Wessons, BHP) and I've never had regrets or lost money on any of them. I must admit I've not bought a Taurus though. But I did have a company car that was a Taurus and it was okay.
Relatively low quality when compared to similar offerings from S&W, Ruger, or any other big/well-known company. No real innovation or new designs with the sole exception of the Judge (which IMHO is a questionable design at best), and roughly 95% of their guns are copies of another company's product.
And if/when they do copy someone else's stuff, they usually change one or two little things to ensure that certain key parts need to be modified to fit their gun, i.e the mag catch on the Taurus PT92.
The Taurus mod 66 I had was a great revolver. Never a problem of any kind. Mid '90's model.
The mod 94 snubby I have is fairly new, November ish last year and no problems yet. Only about 300 or so rounds though, so that might, or might not change. No major personal experience with semi autos other than once or thrice at this or that range. Decent.
I have 2 of the "rossi" lever actions. The old one is a Rossi only and pales in comparison to the newer "Rossi, Braxtech, Taurus".
I have nothing else to go on. The carbine is a damn fine gun.
