I actually know the guy from another forum, he does pest control on his brother's rice farm. He killed a few hundred with an AR15 and spotlight from the bed of a pickup truck before he got bored with that and started stalking them with a shotgun; I suppose the spear is the next natural iteration of that. He took down a lot of his other stuff on Youtube, such as him jumping into a swamp to shoot water moccasins with a 10/22 (also barefoot), and blowing up a dead nutria he found with tannerite. He also dug a bunker in his back yard, only to be defeated by the water table. Wacky guy.

I would check with the Game Warden before I tried using a spear to hunt anything in Texas. It is not listed as a legal means for game or non-game species.

Hunting hogs with a knife and with dogs is common. Spears as well. Cold Steal even has a reasonably priced hog spear.
