There are plenty of people on XDtalk.com that love these guns. I have an XDM-40; it is superbly built and flawless. I have no problem with the grip safety. In fact I don't even notice it is there.

I will say after cleaning both my XD and my Glock tonight, I was able to COMPLETLEY disassemble my Glock and clean it in the time it took me to do a standard cleaning on my XD. That being said, the 23 has about 500 rounds through it since I bought it, and the XD has about 1.5k since I last cleaned it......

I'm sick and tired of these guns. The grip safety locking the action is absolutely pointless, and a dangerous feature IMO. Today at work is the second time I have severely cut myself on these pieces of scheisse! I'm pretty rough with guns, especially when running malfunction drills, racking the slide, etc. I hate them, I despise them, I want nothing to do with them, I don't want to ever hear about them again, I don't want to show them to people at work, I don't want to sell them. If I am being attacked and I have my choice of a Springfield XD or my bare hands, I will choose my bare hands. H&K's, Berettas, Glocks, S&W's all make excellent polymer frame autos, so why have one that wants to chop your fingers off!!!! ARGH%$^#^#$%^! ;) lol As you can probably tell I am still very angry. I bled pretty profusely after this little incident today (it was worse than it looks, it was deep):

I own XD'S, H&K'S and Beretta's and I have no idea how you did that with the XD. I have put over 2,000 rounds through my XD, never broke skin, or had a misfeed. Please explain, I would like to know how it could happen. I think the XD is one of the best weapons made and their customer service is second to none. I paid twice as much for my H&K and you cannot even get them on the phone.

I don't own an XD, but I'd also like to know how it happened. As far as I can tell, the XD isn't that fundamentally different from any of the other polymer frame striker fired guns. So what's different about the XD where it can cut your finger up and a Glock or M&P couldn't?

Operator error does not equate to bad/flawed design. Just my $.02

Not necessarily, but good design minimizes the possibility of operator error.

I'm not certain how he did that in the first place. I guess he didn't depress the safety down all the way and he just yanked on the slide. I've slipped trying to rack a slide and had my fingers drug on the serrations. It does not feel good.

I've had that happen with my CZ P07... When I was reassembling it the slide slipped and there went my finger into that hole and out came the blood... I've taken my XD apart close to 200 times and that has never happened... only reason I attribute it happening with the CZ is it has a gay sloped slide that is hard as shit to get a good grip on... that and the spring is stiff as an old woman...

i dont see the point in the safety on the grip.
    what is with that?

I honestly have shot this gun so many times and drawn it from concealed numbers of times and it becomes second nature... I knew it was there I just don't understand why it is causing so many people issues... it seems like it wouldn't hurt performance... just my $0.02
