I was driving into Buffalo and on the way out of my neck of the woods pretty sure I spotted a young bald eagle. I have seen a huge bird of prey flying in off the lake from my back porch.
No this was a Mexican eagle!Don't forget about the Osprey
The Caracara? I have seen pics of them that look very much like a bald eagle (one was right here in Cool Pictures)No this was a Mexican eagle!

We see them quite often at my parents' place in Medina County. Often on the ground.
Eagle Lake has plenty. When I lived in Houston once in awhile I would see the peregrine from the medical center. We used to see a lot of Bald Eagles when we lived in Northwest Iowa…I miss that!
Seen commonly around Uvalde County, usually in the company of buzzards, all happily feasting on roadkill... I've never seen a Caracara take live prey.Caracara are very common in the brush country and eat as much carrion as a buzzard. Have seen them near Katy and another person reported seeing a pair fly over the house recently.
Bald eagles migrate with the geese from Canada and eat the sick and crippled. One of the reasons govt. demands steel shot for waterfowl hunting.
Not the only new faces in Uvalde County according to the news. Believe I would take the birds.Seen commonly around Uvalde County, usually in the company of buzzards, all happily feasting on roadkill... I've never seen a Caracara take live prey.
