As thread title suggests, I'm looking for ideas on making a small hibachi style or sized grill. Something much smaller than my current homemade grill for grilling in much smaller batches of food. Kind of got the idea a couple of weeks ago, when I fired up the bigger grill to do a package of hot dogs for the wife and I. It works great, but really was a sort of waste of charcoal for the amount of grilling I did.

I want to build something smaller, that only uses about a couple handfuls of charcoal for just doing a couple of burgers, or a package of hot dogs. Looking for some ideas for things I could re-purpose into making a small grill about the size of a hibachi grill.

I once had a Cobb grill. IIRC it only used 8 briquets.
It was ok, expensive, and did not last as long as it should for the price!

What about a park-style grill? Is that too large?

That might be too big. I'm thinking small enough to be able to sit on the shelf on the back porch when not being used. About big enough to grill maybe two burgers, or a package of hot dogs, or a couple sausages. Maybe using a couple handfuls of charcoal for he entire cooking.

I did a Google search for "hibachi grills" and was totally floored at the prices!
