    Gunz are icky.
The doctor tells me to walk for exercise.
It's just too darn hot outside for me. Being over sixty now I just can't take that heat like I used to.
Someone suggested going over to the local shopping mall in the early mornings. The mall allows "walkers" to use the long length of the mall for walking indoors.
So I went over there. After I nearly got struck and killed by numerous sourpuss old women walking at 35mph I gave up.
    I limped home.
At least I didn't have on black knee high socks with sandals.

    I'm totally ag'in it!

I'm 65, I've been walking about 2 miles, twice a day, around my place for the past 23 years. That started hurting about 6 years ago as my knees began to fail, but Medicare got me 2 new replacements last fall and I am back at it, with only a pause. Unfortunately the new knees led to back pain, sciatica, and tendonitis, but I am dealing with it and pressing on.

With the summer heat, I just walk earlier and later...

You have identified the problem. The black knee highs and sandals are low drag, aerodynamic accessories that will give you more speed and stamina. In no time, you'll be barking for those sour puss women to move over and get out of the way.

Hate getting old, too (63). I walk at the park, but sometimes it's really crowded and can't really enjoy the walk. I also go to the track of the local high school but there's no shade walking there. I usually wait until after 5-6pm when the heat index starts to drop. Still hot, but at least I don't worry too much about the sun. Yep...........it's a pain getting old.

I have reached 70, and the only sure signs of getting older that I suffer from, , , , in general, I'm not as strong as I used to be, or everything is heavier than it used to be , , ,If I get down on the floor, like to change the oil on the bike, and then try to get up, jeeze, when did down become so FAR?, , , ,arthritis, but only in both of my little fingers, I can no longer make a fist! otherwise, I'm doing OK. Oh, one more thing, I hate bifocals! trying to focus on the front sight or get the reticle focused is a pain in the ass! That having been said, I shoot as well as I ever did, maybe better.

I walk the dog right about sundown or just after dark. A couple parks near here have concrete walking trails. Usually don't have others on them about then. I have a couple other places I walk her too. I just wear a strong headlight so I can see better.

I found out with my doc that I talk to her like a friend, not a doc. We talk other things than meds. and pain, and treatment. She takes a long time with her patients. Not afraid to say anything, nor is she. Trust and honesty seems to go a long way.

Before I tapped out of work my doctor suggested compression hose. Talk about a PITA putting them on before going to work @ 3:30 am. They did make the first 4 hours of the workday better. Taking them off sucked even worse then putting them on.

The heat is bad, being in pain is worse! I need a new doctor as it’s been a year since I last seen one. I hope the new one not afraid to write a prescription!
Best wishes & greater luck, even dentists are reluctant to prescribe anything stronger than T.#3. Just a few years ago, pre-Pres.T, dentists & lots of physicians wouldn't think about prescribing something that ineffectual for significant pain. Harder now to control one's pain than it was under Pres.JC.

If one has bad pain that goes chronic...going to a pain specialist is de rigueur if one wants relief. [& guess what, most pain docs don't accept medicare.]
Afterthought: Hmmm....I suppose one could relocate to one of those places where such things are dispensed/sold by "unlicensed-pharmacists," (w/o criminal prosecution). I understand those outfits are a cash-&-carry OTC operation.
