Just finished a build, well, almost. I'm using a Wilson .223 barrel and it's got a 5/8-24 thread, commonly found on 7.62 guns, for some stupid reason.

AAC doesn't seem to offer a .223 brake with a 5/8-24 thread. They offer a 7.62 brake with a 5/8-24 thread though. My question is will the 7.62 brake fit onto a M4-2000 can? I'm basically wondering if the over all dimensions of the muzzle brake stay the same and they just drill a bigger hole. If so, I'll throw a 7.62 x 5/8-24 brake on this thing and be done with it. Unfortunately, I seem to be the only one on the internet who's had this problem, according to Google.

I sent them an Email. I'm just impatient. Here's their reply.

    Aaron,

    Thanks for the email.

Sorry, that is not something that we offer. A standard 7.62 muzzle brake will work however. The only difference is the bore diameter, nothing on the mounting surface is different.

Yes, the external dimensions of the 5.56 and 7.62 mounts are the same. I shoot my 5.56 rifles with an AAC 762 SDN-6 can, and I have mounted an M4-2000 onto a 7.62 brake.

I just bought a M4-2000 and a 762SDN Gonna use them on two AR's and when I get a 308 I will be ready. I run a test lab for the oil field so I can use some of the sound equipment and start making some official tests.

You already have the correct answer: yes.

I'm just chiming in to point out something else.
    Something potentially dangerous.

A 5.56 AAC M2000 will click right on to my 7.62 or .300 hosts.

There is, yet another, great reason for re-thinking everything before pulling a trigger!!!
