What is the politest way to tell a family member that she talks too much?
You know the type, barely even stops to take a breath.

She was over here and I was watching the GOT finale I had recorded.
When she walked into the house, I paused it. About an hour straight talking later, she stepped outside and I started watching it again.
She walked back inside, looks at the screen and asks, is that the GOT finale?
Without stopping it, I said yes, then she just started talking again.
Didn't stop for about 2 hours.
    No exaggeration.

Steer the conversation to something they find very uncomfortable. They'll shy away and leave.

Oh there's always something. My go-to has always been electronic, computer, programming, and other such things. That can kill peoples' interest in chatting pretty quickly.

How about asking if she wants to watch the show? If she says no, then say, I do, and ignore her. If she says yes, ask her again when she talks.

That's pretty good actually, not too rude, and yet hopefully she'll get the point.

I was considering putting up house rules, which would consist of No whining, and No complaining.
    That should cover everything.

Print and frame this, then point at it...pointedly?
